Babies

One of the most common reasons to sew a quilt is to welcome a new baby. As we prepared for a new addition to our family, I considered how I might share a quilt that parents and baby alike would enjoy.

This particular branch of the family has a ‘thing’ for giraffes. So, I thought and thought about how to incorporate a giraffe into the quilt I would give them upon the baby’s arrival. I looked at lots of images of giraffes and drew picture after picture of what I might sew for them. 

This is the final design for their new baby who was born earlier this month. It includes a bit of whimsy which I hope follows this little boy through his life. For what is a joyous life without some whimsy and fun?
