Attic Treasures

One of my goals this year is to clear out what has built up in our attic over the years. Years of stuff. One might say they are years of memories and service to help you remember younger days in your child’s life or your own.

But this year, I’m purging.

And…I found some useful items that I completely forgot I had. A box of quilting supplies that I hadn’t remembered at all. Boxes of fabric, some useful, some not. And then, a gem– a box of smocking supplies. Wow!

Talk about a trip down memory lane. Inside was an almost-completed front panel of a child’s  dress, and patterns that I can still use. It made me smile. My heart leapt, and I began imagining how to use this.

I realize that most children’s clothing now isn’t handmade, let alone completed with a smocked front panel. But, I’m hoping this tradition still has a place.

What do you think? Would you like to receive a handmade smocked dress like this?

When you clean out spaces in  your home, have you found any long forgotten treasures in your stash?
